ABOUT THE BOOK
Told through dozens of funny and painfully true stories about the men she's met and dated from a variety of dating websites, local comedian Alison O'Donnell's new book Stupid Cupid: A Survivor's Guide to Online Dating is filled with humorous anecdotes, useful advice and biting humor in what the author calls her "self-help comedy of horrors."
Here you'll meet dozens of the author's most memorable and unforgettable dates and get up close and personal with The Weary Widower, The Desperado, Mr. Clean, and Ivan the Terrible to name just a few. And with each new tale, the reader learns a new and different painful lesson that will only make them laugh a little louder.
The book is also filled with information and tips for single women -- and men -- everywhere. It offers advice on how to identify scams, how to write a great ad, how to read into an ad, and even thoughts on marriage and happiness.
Stupid Cupid is a clever, funny, and infinitely useful guide for both veterans of the online dating world, and those who are approaching online dating for the very first time, with the hope that everyone will one day find true love.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Alison O'Donnell was accidentally born in Connecticut, but is a lifelong native Rhode Islander. A self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie, Alison has been skydiving, bungee jumping, hot air ballooning, scuba diving with sharks, zip lining, exceeding the speed limit halfway around the world, and is the mother of one teenage daughter. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications from Rhode Island College, a Secondary English teacher certification from Providence College, and a Master's from the School of Hard Knocks. A creature of the stage, she has performed comedy in the Southern New England area for more than half her life, and played with various local bands as a singer/musician. In her spare time, Alison enjoys hiking with her two bichons, Rhett and Scarlett. She has taught high school English for the past 17 years, and doesn't really know what she wants to be when she grows up.
What do you get when you mix a stand-up comedian, an English teacher, and a single mom in the on-line dating world? My sexual fantasy, but you also get Alison O’Donnell’s literary masterpiece. The result is her “Self Help Comedy of Horrors”. She has a black belt in comedy, and valuable scar tissue from well over 100 dates that she meshes together into hilarious and true stories that will have you firing beverages out of your nostrils with laughter.
